Red Buckley is the main character in the Season 3 episode "Dead Wait". A professional swindler, Red and his girlfriend go to Emil Duval in order to steal a one-of-a-kind black pearl.
He was portrayed by James Remar.
Early Life[]
Red was formerly in a partnership with a man named Charlie, but he killed the latter after becoming angered by his arrogant behavior. Afterwards, Red and his beautiful girlfriend Kathrine arrive on the doorstep of Emil Duval, a rich plantation owner who is said to own a one-of-a-kind black pearl. Pretending to be searching for a job, Duval recruited Red for the plantation's gestation position. The same night he takes the job, he met Peligre, a voodoo priestess and the main maid of the plantation, who seems read his aura. At proximity, there is also rebel forces in the jungle. Questioning her, she says quite cryptically to Red that his red hair color was symbol of life, and that Duval's hands were puffy because he had contracted a disease. Coming to his bedroom, he was shocked to see a goat head impaled in the wall and insisted that the furious Peligre dispose of it. Returning to the house, he enters in a room where the pearl is exposed. However, he is prevented by Duval, telling that the object is sacred. Red is seduced by Kathrine, who deduces that he wants the pearl. The two have sex in his bedroom and concoct a scheme to steal the pearl. However, she ignores him to deactivate the alarm securities. After she left the bedroom, he was awake by Peligre placing a live chicken in his bed, who tells him that Kathrine is a traitor and that she wants to protect him. However, he doesn't believe her.
Crime[]
The next morning, the couple announces tp Duval that the rebels have invaded the capital. Duval charges Red with protect Kathrine and to leave in a convoy. The night, Kathrine tells him that the pearl is not at its place. Searching the house, he surprises Duval taking all his money to flee. Red threatens Duval with a gun to obtain the pearl, and a confident Duval proposes giving Red the money for him and Kathrine to flee and live a good life. However, Red persists. In response, Duval says it is impossible to give him the pearl. Angry, Red shoots him.
Fate[]
Searching the pearl in his bag with Kathrine, he deduced that Duval had eaten it and open his worm infested stomach with a knife, to his revulsion. Kathrine informs him that the disease was contagious before threatening him with a gun to obtain the money and the pearl for herself. In parallel, Peligre use a voodoo doll for kill her before appearing to an astonished Red. She established that she was not interested in the object, and proposes to guide him through the jungle. Ironically, she guides him to her village where she betrayed him, implying that the pearl was used for to attract people to sacrifice. Peligre kills Red by beheaded his head off with machete, killing him. Peligre picks up Red's head out the ground.
